At JitterBubs Movement and Dance, we specialise in onsite work, meaning we developed our services for Early Childhood Centres. Our programme was designed to work alongside the principles and four strands of Te Whāriki. We believe that every child should have access to movement and dance exploration regardless of their background.
Our programme is designed around what we call the Fundamental Five, these being the five fundamental movement skills which we aim to develop through our time with the children. Using these movement and dance skills as the mean, we aim to develop the child as a whole. By developing physical as well as social and emotional skill we aid in providing a foundation for future dance and movement training as well as for the child's transition into preschool and on to school.
Given the current Covid-19 lockdown situation we have now also made our programme (previously exclusively available to ECE centres) available to parents as well as at-home educators.
I began my performing life at the tender age of 5, ballet was my calling and that was all I lived and breathed for many years. That was until I discovered new ways to develop my love for the stage. This saw me picking up a microphone and guitar to develop my love for songwriting as well as discovering the art of acting. After combining all of these passions, I graduated from the National Academy of Singing and Dramatic Arts in 2016 with a Batchelor of Performing Arts (Musical Theatre).
Over the years I continuously found myself drawn to working with children, during which I worked as a nanny, dance teacher and as a Preschool teacher. It seemed obvious to combine my skills in the Performing Arts with my love of working with children and thus, JitterBubs Movement and Dance was born.
There is nothing more rewarding than helping to develop the love of dance and movement in a child. Discover, Develop, Dance- as the child discovers their body through movement, we aid them in developing fundamental skills such as balance, rhythm, coordination, listening, confidence and creativity through the elements of dance and movement. I am passionate about developing and delivering the best programmes to kickstart a love of movement and dance in the next generation!
